Hello Today is January 1st:
Hope each of you have a Happy New Year.
Hello Today is December 30th:
Reminder ( I accidentally left off the briefs):
Math Night is on January 12th.
Here is the tentative plan:
5:30 Teachers/Grade levels talk with parents about Math at
your grade level. Give them the data and share ideas of
what they need to work on most
6:00 Have math games/activities/stations for families to
participate in. This can also be a make and take type
activity where they can use what they make at home
to increase skills.
6:45 Families will be invited to the cafeteria for Free Pizza and
they will create their own dessert pizza (cookie with
toppings....)
All certified Staff are required to stay. Please make plans to attend. We will not have a Parent Academy in March!
Have a great day
Hello Team,
I hope you had a restful break. Monday begins day 78.
Morning Announcements: Ms Dees’ class will say this week’s announcements. Please send two students to the office by 8 am.
Classroom Walk-Throughs: Mrs. McCarthy, Mrs. Autry, Mrs. Johnson, and I must complete 15 walk-throughs a piece each week (total of 60). I will print the reports of the walks at the end of each month. This can be used as a discussion item during one of your PLC meetings. Remember, this is not used as an evaluation tool.
Custodial Update: If you have any cleaning issues that need to be addressed, please let Mr. Whitaker know. If this does not improve, please let Ms. Johnson know. Our custodial staff has created a scheduled to have the entire building cleaned from top to bottom by the end of the school year.
Change in Schedule due to weather: I appreciate your cooperation in the change of the schedule on Friday with the weather. As a reminder, please follow the guidelines in regards to a change in the schedule. If we are on a 2-hour delay, please use your judgment when you need to come to school. You are expected to make up any time that you missed. Many of you were concerned in regards to the dismissal time on Friday. Dr. Martin had sent an email (that I sent to you) in regards to dismissal time for teachers. I understand that many of you had travel concerns on the way home (it took me 2 ½ hours to get home). I do not want any of you to risk your health due to slippery roads. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and this will not occur again.
Petty Leave: Please complete a form when you anticipate that you will need to leave campus. Unless it is an emergency, you should request petty leave 5 days in advanced. Put the person who will be responsible for your class. Also, please put the time you are leaving and the time you will return. You will need to sign out on a Petty Leave Sign Out form that will be located in the front lobby and then sign back in when you return. If you leave and will be gone for the remainder of the day, place that on the Petty leave Sign Out form Remember that by Board Policy you can take up to 2 hours. If you take more than 2 hours, you will need to take a half-day. Also be reminded that anytime that you are taking petty leave that you must make up the time unless you have hour passes attached.
Renovations Update: We are still scheduled to begin renovations on January 4th. The construction crew will begin by building a retaining wall at the entrance to the first grade wing. In addition, we will still need to use about 2/3 of the parking lot for all the equipment and trucks to be parked beginning January 5th. This will cause us to lose around 15-16 parking places. Maintenance will mark off the area that we will not be allowed to park sometime this week. I know this will cause some issues with our parking situation. I will investigate other possible areas that we can park during this renovations process that will continue until May!
We are also changing the look to the front of the building by replacing the doors and glass.
H1N1 Vaccinations: WS/FCS will be offering H1N1 flu vaccinations for employees, retirees and dependents covered by the State Health Plan and/or Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The dates for the H1N1shots are Friday, January 8, and Monday, January 11, in the Central Office 3rd Floor Auditorium, The times will be from 7:30 AM until 7 PM on both days. There is no sign-up for the shots -- just come during the clinic hours for your vaccine.Children between the ages of 10 and 17 must have parents present to receive the shot. Children under 10 must have two shots and must go to their doctor to get both doses of the H1N1. Employees and dependents who are not covered by the State Health Plan or BCBSNC must pay $15 per shot for family members and employees. This payment may be paid in cash, checks and Medicare, Part B. Medicare Part B participants will not be required to pay a co-pay. NO CREDIT CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED,PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING YOUR INSURANCE CARD ON THAT DAY or you will have to pay for the shot.
